Music Monday - You Decide

Well its a new year and instead of me giving a CD review I thought about creating a music debate. I will post three acts from the same era and you judge which you think is the best (rank them 1 to 3 with comments of course).

Now as anyone noticed how the majority of modern Rock acts never seem to smile either on stage or in Photographs, I think its to do with image.

Anyway for todays debate I'm going back to my schoolboy days and the era of Glam Rock (early 70's), this is when music was fun and you dressed accordingly. I know many of you are far too young to remember but believe me if we dressed the same nowadays we would get shot.

Anyway the big argument at the time was over which group was the kings of Glam and it always seemed to come down to three groups so these are what I will post.

1. T. Rex - 20th Century Boy
2. Sweet - Ballroom Blitz
3. Slade - Cum on Feel the Noise

Watch, Listen, Judge, from the 3 clips posted below this post.

Well I was about in that era (a mere child of course *cough*) But I think the track that still stands up today is T Rex's '20th Century Boy' The others are more of their time. Sweet where a great band musically but was forced into a formula unfortunately. Slade where a honest to goodness 'good time' band, but was never one of my faves to be honest.

I've heard all these songs before but never seen them played as it was before my time.
My vote is for Sweet even if they must be gay dressed like that.

I didn't recall that particular T-Rex song so this is the first time i've played it. I have to admit, it was giving me a headache.
However, i was a big fan of Slade [Run, Run away is still one i play a lot!]and some of Sweet.
I will have to go with Slade :o)

1. The Sweet
2. T R-Rex
3. Slade

The Sweet were around more in my "heyday" than the others.Who could forget those gorgous boys with their tight satin jumpsuits and their sparkling platform shoes!! lol

Dude - have NOT heard of any of them (hangs head in shame). Guess I was country when country wasn't cool, ey?

Thanks to all you ladies who have voted, I make that 2 apiece for each group so far.

Rachel,
Obviously I realise you are far too young to remember any of these but how does that stop you watching & listening to the clips and voting ?
It could be the deciding vote as it stands all square at present.

Okay, I'm with Jenny.
Video clip #3 ranks as number one. Then I go with video clip #1 for 2nd spot; and then video clip #2 for last.

W O W ! ! ! !

I used to listen to TRex in High School, so I vote for him. Plus he's the most rock-n-roll of all those glammers.

Ballroom Blitz was covered and appeared in Wayne's World. So, I see a bit of a "cheesy" factor in there.

You taught me something new with that old clip of "Cum on Feel the Noize" though!!! I never knew that Quiet Riot got their number one hit on a COVER TUNE! WOW!

(on a side note, though - the songs must have been pretty influential to be covered. So, some respect is deserved to the originals!)

Well I reckon the decision is about as clear cut as it was back in the early seventies.
I reckon they were all good in their day especially as live bands but I was brought up with this music.
I was always a Slade fan but with this choice I would have gone with Sweet cos this is my favorite song of theirs. My fav Slade songs are "Everyday" & "Far Far Away".
I can't leave T.Rex out either because I once dated a girl that was a big fan but my fav song of theirs is "Teenage Dream".

Mo,
Slades hit was in 1973 and a No1 over here, it was wrote by Noddy Holder (Lead Vocals) & Jimmy Lea (Bassist).
Quiet Riot isn't the only cover version it has also been done by Oasis.
