Sunday Sport - Goodbye Audley

Well once again our Olympic heavyweight boxing champion Audley Harrison proved he ain't good enough for the profesional ranks. Despite all his boasts about been a future world champion he managed to lose for the third time in 14 months. Time to call it a day Audley.

His defeat was to another British Boxer Michael Sprott who knocked Audrey out in the 3rd round. Sprott will now face another Brit Matt Skelton in what is been called a World title eliminator, gee has boxing standards dropped. One British Boxer living up to his promise though is 19 year old lightweight Amir Khan who only took one minute to knock out French Champion Mohammed Medjadi in only his 12th Pro fight.

Still unbeaten Khan looks the real deal a future world champion in the making.Another rising British Sports Star is Tennis player Andy Murray who has had a good week reaching the final of the SAP open in San Jose. He had a great win in the semi putting out American Favorite Andy Roddick (sorry Rachel) and now faces a Croatian that I can't name in todays final.

This weeks Welsh Open Snooker Tournament has threw up a few shocks, in fact until this event I'd never heard of either of todays finalists. Australian Neil Robertson (photo below) has done fantastic putting out Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan & Steve Davis while his opponent Englishman Andrew Higginson made a 147 on route. Well done lads nice to see some new faces at the top.

On to Soccer and my team Leeds United got what they usually get when they visit Cardiff abslutely nowt. The 1-0 defeat leaves us still at the bottom of the Championship but to be fair they played ok yesterday, its just we never win in that horrible city. The match was its usual blood bath between these rivals, thats players and supporters.

While talking Soccer I see in this mornings papers they are on about bringing back Beckham into the England team and you can't knock the lads timing, yesterday he managed to get himself sent off playing for Madrid.

This weeks big MLS rumour is Chelsea are going in partnership with DC United, I'm sure Joel will be interested in that fact.

Still on Soccer congratulations to Reading reserves who drew away from home with the Manchester Utd 1st team in the FA Cup yesterday, good luck in the replay.

Finally on to Cricket with the news that South Africa will be top seeds at the one-day world cup, they have overtaken Australia at the top of the World Rankings following their recent series win over Pakistan. Obviously Australia's recent defeats against England and New Zealand didn't do a lot for their ranking.

Tell you what Mick I didn't realise how old Audley Harrison is, he's 35. I know its more your age in fights that matters (whether you've had really tough fights or not) But I think he's a bit old to be honest.
I saw the finish of Kahn's fight and what a peach of a punch! The lad really seems to have talent.
PS like the Man U cartoon thingy lol.

Oh man - put out Andy Roddick? Well, how dare he!! (Just teasing) I love watching Roddick play though and Federer. They both play with such class.

I am glad you mentioned tennis. I do love boxing and tennis! But cricket? What the hell is cricket? I know, I know - ignorant American here, sorry.

Hey Mick,

Will comment here for all of the posts that i've caught up on tonight. I'm back in St Robert now after an awesome weekend in Saint Louis. We were staying with friends who live in Forrest Park so i did get to do some walking but minimal i'm afraid as it was
-15 degrees celcius, you get the picture...

We went to the Ice Hockey on Friday night, the Blues won against Nashville Preditors to break a 14 straight losing streak to them, we were so happy! I drank a beer, first big beer ever, first budweiser ever and i didn't like it. But considering it was 8.50 and bought for me by someone else, i drank it! My husband was so proud! ;-)

On Saturday it was Mardi Gras, well, free booze ALL day, starting at 10am, parade from 11am, beads, beads and more beads, i literally had hundreds. Live music, free delicious hot food, -15 outside though... Not as bigger a turn out as they wanted cause of the snow. Today was divine and we went to the Boathouse, oh it is beautiful there, then went to Stomp. Which was awesome. Fox Theatre is amazing...
Sorry for the long comment, i'll post all this and more on my own blog, just got caught up in telling you all about it!

Great loss, excellent news on the sporting front with your injuries not hampering and i'm happy to say i'm still blogging and hoping you will be for a long time too!

Take care
x

Airliebird,
Audley is a bit old to be classed an up and coming star so I think he's had his chance. Khan looks awesome at that weight and now needs to step up a class.
I thought you'd like the Man U cartoon.

Rach,
Our boy looks promising but I still reckon Federer is a different class.
Cricket is a sport that gives us the chance to watch sitting in the sun all day drinking beer. The game itself is boring but hell if Yorkshire or England are playing does that matter as long as they win.

Sandii,
Nice to hear you're having a great time.
