Last week I was just checking out a few blogs when for some reason I looked at the Myspace of a young lady I met in Nashville earlier this year.
Ok we only met once (my first night in the City) but she did e'mail me when I got home and I contacted her 2 or 3 months ago to ask for some information on Texas (she originates from San Antonio).
Anyway on her Myspace I saw she was leaving Nashville so although we haven't been in contact for a while I decided to e'mail her to enquire where she was going.
She replied telling me she was moving with her 6 year old son to Albequerque, New Mexico within the next two weeks. More importantly she told me that she had lost my blog & e'mail address as she had it saved at work but lost a lot of information including my details due to a computor fault, she asked me to forward my blog address.
Since then she as looked up my blog and given me her home e'mail (I had her work one) so we can keep in touch occasionally. I'll certainly send a e'mail every couple of Months.
So the point is if I hadn't emailed this lady I would probably lost contact with someone I found to be real good company albeit for 2 or 3 hours. She is the sort of person I like as a friend (a good laugh) and I would love to meet again one day. I've never been to New Mexico so you never know !
That said there are a lot of people I want to meet that I also like, this includes a number of my blog friends (I think everyone should move to the same place).
And I forgot to add her name was Holly and her picture does appear on my blog, check out Nashville pictures in the May archives.

I continue to enjoy the relationships that seem to develop on-line. Very cool that you saw her on My Space. Matt and I spent a few days in Santa Fe, New Mexico on our 3 months RV trip. I enjoyed getting to know a couple of street people who we met on the bus back to the RV park. Also the impressive art.
I love keeping in touch with my online pals. I can be a bit forgetful sometimes but always reply to any emails I get :)
Things like blogs are fab because you get into a routine of looking at them. Both my daughters have a 'My Space' page and have told me to do one. I'm thinking about it, but when I've joined sites before all most people are interested in is extra marital activity. No thanks me hearties! lol.
Arlene,
I had her myspace site on my favotites she gave me it when we met. Its just I hadn't checked it out for a long time.
I am a people person and love making new friends and hate it when I lose them. If I had delayed sending that e'mail she would never have recieved it, I would have thought she was ignoring me so we would probably never got in touch again.
I feel much the same way about my blog friends, I hate it when occasionally some pack in blogging. I only actually blog with people I think I would like if we were to ever meet up.
Airliebird,
When I started blogging last February I didn't think I'd get so into it. Like you I love keeping in touch with my online pals, I would now miss it if I packed in.
I'm registered on myspace but don't use it apart from looking up friends that are such as Holly.
I'm happy with my growing list of online blogger friends, some smashing people, I do hope I eventually meet a few of them.
As for people looking for Extras on the net, yes a lot do but I'm not a great believer in looking for partners or just someone for sex on the web. I think thats something that should happen naturally when the chemistry between two people is right. That doesn't mean I couldn't meet someone via blogging and find her the ideal partner but primarily I look upon people as friends.
You are so right that it is important to keep up with those relationships. I met a german girl on a cruise once when I was 16. We ended up keeping in touch, penpals and such (this was back before email!). Well, when I was in college, I spent a year in France and wrote her up. She invited me to spend the christmas holiday with her family. I had the best time and am so glad that we kept in touch all those years. Who knows when you may run into her again!
Jenny,
Thats a nice story, do you still keep in touch today ?
I believe you can't have enough friends, I have lost contact with so many people I would love to meet again.
Yeah, it would be fun to have like our own blogging commune, ey?! Just kidding!!
My mother used to winter in Arizona when I was growing up. I had forgotten about that until just now. That's another place to add to your list if you haven't been there yet. The photos of the Grand Canyon she'd bring back and the Indian art was always fascinating to me.
Rach,
Blogging Commune now there is a thought. Although I like all of my blogging friends I often wonder which of them would get on with each other, so many different personalities.
I haven't yet seen the Grand Canyon but I would love to one day.
I have heard good reports on Arizona from somebody that had visited Phoenix and Flagstaff.
Trouble is Rach my list of places to visit is growing faster than I am visiting. Its a big country with so many interesting places and nice people.
i'm glad to hear that you reconnected with your friend. i've never met any of my blog friends in person but maybe someday!
Rng,
Yes I'm pleased I contacted Holly, she was real fun to be with the one time we met. I only met her when I was on vacation but I'd like to meet up again one day.
As for meeting blog friends so far I've been lucky enough to meet Regina on my travels (twice)and thats good because hers was the first blog I ever read.
I'd love to meet some of the others that would be good (assuming they wanted to meet me).
